Barbara Burns for Denton ISD School Board, Place 1

The voice of reason, experience, and caring treatment of children, staff, and families

A dedicated educator and parent, Barbara prioritized family while teaching government and U.S. history. Inspired by her parents and a desire to contribute post-retirement, she became deeply involved in education by attending school board meetings in Denton for seven years before being elected to the board in 2012.

With nearly 12 years on the board, she has gained valuable insights through direct interactions with the Denton ISD community. Her board experience, district knowledge, and open communication have been pivotal in decision-making, leading to improvements such as a new system for playground equipment replacement in schools.

Denton ISD is one of the fastest-growing school districts in the state. As a school board member, my focus would include growth, funding, and advocacy.
